But one thing to look forward to is… our annual SKATE CHALLENGE EVENT !
DATE/DAY: 4TH FEBRUARY 2012 (SATURDAY)
VENUE: NUS Campus ( Multi-Purpose Courts 14 and 15)
TIME: 0900 to 1700
For this year's Rollerblade skate challenge, there will be 3 main events in this challenge.
1) Bladercross
2) Captain’s Ball on Skates
3) Mini games on Skates
Bladercross
a. Men relay (2 guys)
b. Women relay (2 girls)
c. Mixed relay (2 guys + 2 girls)
Bladercross is a skating obstacle course that allows you to put your skating skills to the challenge. The team with the fastest timing wins the event!
Captain Ball on Skates
7 to form a team, (3 guys + 2 girls + 2 reserves)
Mini Games
For all participants to enjoy and relax as it a non-competitive event. The mini games include games like bacteria, mother-hen, ice & fire. Thus, if you are not interested in the competitive events, you can join us in this mini games at a special price.

It is a full day event where you can learn how to skate and acquire useful skills like standing up, moving off and braking. This course is design specially for beginners, thus do invite any of your friends to come with you to learn. =)

We have once again organized an exciting event for you!
DISCONNECT is a magical night of fun! Filled with DJ-ing, music and lightings similar to disco, you’re invited to showcase your dance moves with skates. Come catch some great socialising and learning opportunities even if you think you don’t skate well.
This event is open to all (including public), so feel free to invite all your friends to come!
What to do during DISCONNECT?
There will be fun and interactive mass games lined up for you and win some prizes home! Snacks and drinks will be provided; not forgetting the goodie bags!
Lastly, there will be attractive lucky draw to hype up the atmosphere! The 1st prize is a Apple Ipod Nano! So what are you waiting for?

AY 11/12 EXCO Application
I'm pleased to inform you that we have several EXCO positions opened for application.
Here is the list of positions available for application:
• Marketing Vice Director (2 slots)
• Publicity Vice Director (1 slot)
• Events Vice Director (2 slots)
• Logistic Vice Director (1 slots)
• Secretary (1 slot)
• Skating Manager (2 slots)
All committee members are expected to turn up for skating sessions. No prior skating experience is needed. As long as you are a current NUS student, you are eligible to apply.
Below is a brief description of the job scope and responsibilities of each position:
Marketing Vice Director
Assist the Marketing Director in the following tasks:
• Secure sponsorships for events
• Prepare sponsorship proposals and reports
• Keep a lookout for discounts that will benefit the club
• Help in skate mass purchase
• Work closely with Publicity and Events Coordinator for event promotion
Publicity Vice Director
Assist the Publicity Director in the following tasks:
• Design posters and flyers for events
• Responsible for putting up posters around campus
• Design and printing of club T-shirt
• Take photos of skating sessions/events (or get from others)
• Maintain club blog and Facebook page
• Update skate club notice board
Events Vice Director
Assist the Events Director in the following tasks:
• Organizing skating workshops during the term breaks
• Organizing the annual event
• Take charge of allocation of resources and manpower for the respective events
Logistic Vice Director
Assist the Logistic Director in the following tasks:
• Maintain skating club cupboard
• Take charge of skate rental
• Prepare logistic for Club events
Secretary
• In charge of club's finances
• Organise bonding activities for club, e.g. chalets, bbq, non-skating activities.
• Schedule meeting timing for exco members
• Taking of minutes for meetings
Skating Manager
• Organize weekly skating sessions (Wednesday evenings / Saturday afternoons)
• Be the coordinator and facilitator for external competitions (Eg. send link for registration forms and get people to join)
• Organize extra training sessions for advanced/competitive members who want to hone their skills
• Explore different possibilities for different categories like speed slalom, freestyle slalom, slides & others
Here's what you need to do to join the committee:
1. Get a copy of the EXCO application form during Welcome tea or Send an email to us indicate that you are interested
2. Print the EXCO application form and fill it up
3. Bring it along with you when you join us at our next skating session and submit it to me or any other committee members
Take note that EXCO application is opened to all NUS students, not just year ones.
